Travel Awards

 

ICART is pleased to offer two competitive travel awards to eligible student researchers who would like to participate in the First International TNBC Conference: Illuminating Actionable Biology in TNBC. The objective of these awards is to increase the participation of students from groups traditionally underrepresented in the biomedical sciences. ICART envisions that enhancing the training of such individuals can help to diversify the TNBC research workforce, which is essential to find innovative solutions to reduce disparities in TNBC outcomes.

 

Thank you to Agilent, who is kindly sponsoring a $1,500 travel award.

 

APPLICATIONS

Applications for travel awards will be accepted until August 1, 2017. Applicants must first submit their abstract and then complete the application. Applicants must also upload their current CV, a letter of support from their academic advisor, and a personal statement (1-page maximum) describing their research interests, motivation to attend the conference, and career aspirations.

 

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must be (1) enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate/professional academic program, (2) the first author of an abstract accepted for presentation at the meeting, and (3) a member of a group identified as underrepresented in the biomedical sciences (e.g., individuals from racial or ethnic minority groups, with disabilities, from disadvantaged backgrounds; see https://www.nsf.gov/statistics/2017/nsf17310/ for guidance).

 

SELECTION

The two most meritorious candidates will be selected based on their motivation to attend the conference and perceived potential for success in the field of TNBC research as judged by their abstract, CV, and personal statement. Award recipients will be notified by July 31, 2017 and they will have 1 week to confirm their participation, lest the award be forfeited. Conditions and Logistics Travel awards include complimentary conference registration as well as $1,500 towards the costs of travel, room, and board. For questions regarding travel awards, please contact: travelawards@tnbcconference.org .

 

 

Hotel Indigo  

 

We are excited to partner with Hotel Indigo Atlanta Downtown at 230 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta, 30303, (404) 523-7600. The rate for conference attendees is $124.00 + tax. Attendees paying directly for their stay will have to pay taxes in addition to the negotiated base rate. To reserve a room at this rate, please visit this link no later than August 31.

MARTA fare is $2.50 for a one-way trip. Fare can be purchased at all MARTA rail stations or online, with the choice of adding fare to a plastic Breeze Card ($2) or disposable paper ticket ($1).

  • Follow airport signs to the Airport MARTA Station

  • Board the northbound train (either Doraville/gold or North Springs/red) 

  • Exit at the Peachtree Center Station (8 stops)

  • At the station, follow the signs to the John Portman exit at the north end of the station

  • Exit and follow the signs again to Peachtree Street W

  • At street level, turn right on Peachtree Street to reach the entrance to the hotel

 

FROM AIRPORT TO THE VENUE (CENTENNIAL HALL) VIA MARTA
