Dr. Rakha is Chair of the Department of Histopathology, Professor and Consultant Pathologist, University of Nottingham and Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust, Nottingham, UK. Author of over 200 peer-reviewed articles, over 150 published abstracts, and 22 book chapters on breast disease, he is leading member of the Nottingham Breast Pathology Research Group, which has a longstanding interest and outstanding international track record in breast cancer research. He has developed a national and international consultation breast pathology referral practice in Nottingham and carries out private work, reporting and trimming almost all breast cases referred to Source Bioscience plc UK, on an ad hoc basis. He is co-leader of a Trust-wide project to establish and run a core facility for biobanking in Nottingham (Nottingham Research Biorepository), expected to be one of the largest sources of clinically annotated human tissues samples in the UK using the state of the art methods of automatic data retrieval and a generic Trust-wide consenting process. In addition, Dr. Rakha runs the Nottingham Breast Pathology Masterclass, an annual training course for reporting breast pathologists in the UK and elsewhere, and regularly serves as an editor and reviewer for peer-reviewed journals and reviews grant proposals for charitable organisations. He is the co-founder of ICART (International Consortium for Advancing Research on Triple Negative Breast Cancer) and has ongoing educational and research collaborations with Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA.
